Virtual Vocations’ 2018 Telecommuting Statistics and Year-End Report Lists Top Companies, Career Industries and Locations for Telecommuting Jobs

In addition to naming the top 10 companies, career industries, and locations for remote work, Virtual Vocations’ report also highlights details about company records broken during 2018, national telecommuting statistics, and a profile of a typical remote jobseeker in the United States.

Since 2015, Virtual Vocations has annually aggregated and analyzed data on trends in telecommuting and its evolution as a mainstream work model.

This report is the company’s fourth examination of annual telecommuting statistics, trends, and remote job outlooks. They utilize this data to assist their users in their searches for telecommuting and virtual jobs and to provide a resource on the current state of remote work.

In 2018, Virtual Vocations screened more than one million potential telecommute job postings and added 240,977 telecommute job vacancies to its job board. When compared to 2017, this is a 50 percent increase in the number of job postings added.

Virtual Vocations also vetted 4,550 new telecommute-friendly companies, bringing the total number of companies actively searched for new remote jobs to more than 8,200. Its free Employer Partner Program, which allows companies to post telecommute job openings to Virtual Vocations at no cost, expanded to include 143 new partners during 2018. These companies join a roster of Virtual Vocations Employer Partners including businesses like Intuit Inc., Sony Corporation, K12 Inc., WalletHub, MoveOn, and Crossover.

2018 top companies for telecommuting jobs include CyraCom LLC, UnitedHealth Group, and Oracle. Among all telecommuting career industries, information technology, sales, healthcare, account management, and consulting boasted the most remote job postings during 2018. The states with the highest frequency of telecommute job postings include California, Florida, and Virginia, which saw a significant boost in the availability of remote jobs throughout the year.
